Insurance Policy – UK House Moves

At UK House Moves, we take the safety of your belongings seriously. This Insurance Policy explains how your goods are protected during a move or while in our care, the types of cover available, and how to make a claim.


1. Standard Goods in Transit Insurance

All moves conducted by UK House Moves include standard Goods in Transit insurance, which covers your belongings against:

  • Loss

  • Damage

  • Theft

Coverage Details:

  • This insurance applies from the moment we collect your goods until delivery at the agreed destination.

  • The standard policy covers your items up to a fixed value per item and per load (please contact us for exact limits).

  • This insurance does not cover pre-existing damage, wear and tear, or damage caused by improper packing by the customer.


2. Full-Value Protection (Optional)

For additional peace of mind, we offer Full-Value Protection, which covers the full replacement cost of items damaged or lost during the move or in storage.

Key Points:

  • Full-Value Protection must be requested before the move.

  • High-value or fragile items (antiques, artwork, jewellery, pianos) should be declared and may require additional premium.

  • Claims are assessed based on the replacement value of the item at the time of loss or damage.


3. Storage Insurance

  • All goods stored in our facilities are covered by standard storage insurance.

  • Optional enhanced coverage is available for high-value items or long-term storage.

  • Items must be properly packed and labelled to qualify for insurance coverage.


4. Customer Responsibilities

To ensure your belongings are fully covered:

  • Provide an accurate inventory of items being moved or stored.

  • Clearly label fragile or high-value items.

  • Declare any special requirements or items requiring extra care.

  • Use our professional packing service or pack items according to our guidelines if self-packing.


5. Making a Claim

  • Any loss or damage must be reported in writing within 48 hours of delivery or retrieval from storage.

  • Claims should include:

    • Description of the damage or loss

    • Photos where applicable

    • Original invoices or proof of value for the items

  • Our team will investigate promptly and communicate the next steps for compensation.


6. Exclusions

Standard insurance does not cover:

  • Perishable items, liquids, or hazardous materials

  • Cash, personal documents, or financial instruments

  • Damage caused by poor packing not done by our team

  • Acts of God, war, terrorism, or government action

Optional Full-Value Protection can cover some of these items if declared and agreed in advance.


7. Liability Limitations

  • Our liability is limited to the terms outlined in this policy and the cover purchased.

  • We are not responsible for indirect or consequential losses, including stress, inconvenience, or loss of use of goods.
