Removal Terms and Conditions

Welcome to UK House Moves. These Terms and Conditions outline the agreement between UK House Moves (“we”, “us”, “our”) and the customer (“you”, “your”) for the provision of our moving, packing, storage, and related services within the United Kingdom.
By booking or using any of our services, you agree to the following terms.
1. Our Services
We provide professional removal, relocation, packing, and storage services throughout the UK.
Our services may include:

Domestic and commercial removals

Packing, unpacking, and handling of goods

Short- and long-term storage

Transportation of goods between UK addresses

Insurance and protection options
We reserve the right to amend our services or pricing at any time, though any changes will not affect confirmed bookings.
2. Bookings & Quotations

Quotations are provided based on the information you supply. Any changes to inventory, access, or location may affect the quoted price.

Quotations are valid for 30 days from issue.

A booking is only confirmed once a deposit has been received and written confirmation issued by us.

We reserve the right to decline bookings that may pose safety, logistical, or legal issues.
3. Deposits & Payments

A non-refundable deposit (typically 20–30%) is required to secure your moving date.

Full payment is due on or before the day of your move, unless otherwise agreed in writing.

Payments can be made via bank transfer, credit/debit card, or online invoice link.
-
Invoices not paid on time may incur a late payment charge or interest as permitted under the Late Payment of Commercial Debts (Interest) Act 1998.

We reserve the right to withhold delivery or services until payment is received in full.
4. Cancellations & Rescheduling

Cancellations made 7 or more days before the scheduled move are refundable (excluding the deposit).

Cancellations within 7 days of your move will incur a charge of up to 50% of the total cost, depending on notice given.

Cancellations within 48 hours may be charged in full.

Rescheduling is permitted subject to availability and may incur a small administrative fee.
5. Access & Property Conditions

You are responsible for ensuring safe, legal, and practical access at both collection and delivery addresses.

Parking permits, lift access, or permissions from property managers must be arranged in advance.

If our team is delayed or unable to access the property, waiting time charges may apply.

We are not responsible for damage to driveways, floors, or fixtures caused by poor access or conditions beyond our control.
6. Packing & Handling

If you pack your own goods, we are not responsible for damage caused by poor or inadequate packing.

We can provide professional packing and unpacking upon request.
-
Fragile, valuable, or sentimental items should be clearly labelled and discussed with our team before moving.

We reserve the right to refuse to transport items that are unsafe, illegal, perishable, or prohibited (e.g. explosives, firearms, flammable liquids, cash, or jewellery).
7. Storage Terms

Storage is charged weekly or monthly in advance.
-
Access to stored goods is by appointment only.
-
Full payment is required before goods can be released from storage.

If storage fees remain unpaid for 30 days, we reserve the right to sell or dispose of goods after giving written notice to recover costs.

Goods stored are insured up to an agreed value — higher cover can be arranged if requested in writing.
8. Insurance & Liability

All removals are covered by our standard Goods in Transit insurance, up to a set limit per load (details available upon request).

Optional Full-Value Protection can be purchased for enhanced cover.

We are not liable for:

Damage caused by poor packing done by you or third parties.
-
Pre-existing defects or wear and tear.
-
Loss or damage resulting from war, terrorism, weather, or natural disasters.

Items of extraordinary value not declared or properly insured.

Claims must be reported in writing within 48 hours of delivery, including photos and a description of the issue.
9. Delays & Circumstances Beyond Our Control
We are not responsible for delays or losses caused by:

Severe weather or road closures

Mechanical breakdowns or accidents

Traffic, strikes, or public events
-
Incorrect information or lack of access provided by you
We will communicate promptly about any issues and take reasonable steps to complete your move safely and efficiently.
10. Customer Responsibilities
You must:

Ensure all goods are ready for collection unless packing services are included.

Supervise the move or nominate an authorised person to do so.
-
Check all goods are delivered and in good condition before signing completion documents.
-
Inform us of any special handling requirements before moving day.
-
Obtain necessary permissions for parking or building access.
11. Our Responsibilities
We will:

Provide trained, uniformed moving staff.

Handle all items with care and respect.
-
Use appropriate packing and transport equipment.
-
Maintain insurance coverage for our services.
-
Act in a professional and courteous manner at all times.
12. Complaints & Disputes

Any complaint should be reported to our office within 7 days of your move.

We will investigate promptly and aim to resolve issues fairly.

If a dispute cannot be resolved directly, it may be referred to independent mediation or resolved under UK law in the courts of England and Wales.
13. Data Protection & Privacy

We comply with the UK Data Protection Act 2018 and GDPR.

We only collect information necessary to manage your booking and service.

Your data is stored securely and never shared with third parties except as required to complete your move (e.g. insurance providers).

You have the right to request, correct, or delete your personal data at any time.

14. Website Use
By using our website, you agree not to copy, misuse, or distribute its content without written permission.
We are not responsible for third-party links or external websites.
15. Limitation of Liability

Our total liability for any loss, damage, or delay shall not exceed the total cost of the service provided, unless otherwise agreed in writing.

We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses such as emotional distress, loss of income, or missed opportunities.
16. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales.
Any disputes will be handled exclusively in UK courts.
